• About me

My name is Annet Ruitenberg. While gaining years of experience within the world of social insurances as a team leader and a coach, I have also developed myself as a coach by taking plenty of courses. I also am a caregiver for two family members. At the moment, I am a Positive Psychology student at the OU. I think it is safe to say that coaching is my passion. I get a lot of gratification from helping people with finding their obstacles and helping them to look beyond those obstacles. I have been fat my whole life, which led me to insights, and formed my style of coaching today. In 2019 I decided to combine my own baggage with my own coaching practice. This is how DIKOKEE came to life.

    Control

My whole life, I have been confronted with the fact that, apparently, I do not fit in the society we are living in. In primary school, they gave me an important letter for my parents to read. In this letter, my parents were summoned to take me to the doctor as soon as possible. Because, according to my school, there was something wrong with me. My doctor told my parents that I am overweight. Thankfully, my doctor was a fat person himself, so he approached the matter very level-headedly. At school on the other hand, I was bullied regularly. I came to learn that, if you do not actively do something about the bullying, it will not stop. In a moment of confidence, I decided to stand up for myself against the bullies, which was not easy for a shy kid like myself! That was the start of my learning process, in which I learned how to take back control!

    Clothes

Another challenge for me was finding clothes that would fit me. I have endured many moments of embarrassment when I was trying on clothes in fitting rooms. Back then, there were not as many plus size clothes as there are now. It has always been fascinating to me that people you have never seen before in your entire life, can come up with the meanest insults and comments. Out of nowhere! In some ways, I can get behind bullying children. Some children just do not know better. What really surprised me, is how mean adults can be to fat people. They should know better. They should know that these kind of experiences can make or break a person and they can have a huge impact on someone’s life.

    Being different

In the meantime, I have come to know myself and right now, I could not be more proud of who I am. However, appearances and perfection are more important than ever nowadays. There is not a lot of room for people who are different. That is exactly why, in my opinion, it is important to discover yourself and be proud of who you are. I would love to help you with achieving just that. To be capable to do so, I have gained experience within the following fields:

    • Professional coaching (both teams and individuals)
    • Counselling people with autism
    • Working within a large organization: employee and team leader
    • Interviewing (also on a psychological level)
    • Coaching from positive psychology
    • Stress counselling
    • Coaching with RealDrives
